Lyrics

Night to Day

Lights in the city are growing very dark.
It's too late for me.
It's too late for everyone.

Ba-Ba-Bada-Ba-Ba
Ba-Ba-Bada-Ba-Ba
Ba-Ba-Bada-Ba-Ba
Ba-Ba-Bada-Ba

Light is coming up over the horizon.
and it's time,
time I should be rising.

Ba-Ba-Bada-Ba-Ba
Ba-Ba-Bada-Ba-Ba
Ba-Ba-Bada-Ba-Ba
Ba-Ba-Bada-Ba

Rainclouds are coming,
coming round the bend.
Rainclouds are coming.
Ba-Ba-Bada-Ba-Ba

Think Pink

Think pink, itchy skin
Fiberglass working it's way on in.
I can't do anything but
scratch my arms
and hope that it disappears
The pain and itching feeling
will last for years.

Fiberglass work it all in
Work in my arms
Work in my limbs
and I can't do anything
but hope that the scratching will end.

Pink, itchy skin
and I don't have a burning fire.
Went down, down, down and the pain got higher.

Powder Post Beetles

Coming up from the ground.
Boring holes in my house.
You want to stop, but you're just hungry.
It's your right to survive.

I know you didn't mean it,
but I won't say I'm sorry.
No one saw the powder post beetles and
I can't blame you.

On the Bench

There's the man, he's sitting on the bench again.
He looks down, he's staring at the ground again.
Pigeons flock from miles around.
Impatient pacing for the scraps he throws down.

Scraps he throws down.

He stands up and walks to riverside.
Looks around, he's running out of daylight.
He has to hurry home for the evening show.
Yeah, he's gotta go.

Granite Bag

My hope floats like a granite bag,
sinking fast to the bottom of the ocean.

The Last Man Sinks

When the last man sinks to the bottom of the ocean
there is nothing, there's no motion.
And the waves are swirling 'round his head.
And the fish don't care that he is dead.
Lost to the salty sea, where he thought he'd be free.
And you know he's never coming back.

His soul is at the bottom of the sea.
And it never will be retrieved.

One Winged Fly

With so much that's impossible,
it's a wonder it gets done.
With all the giant obstacles,
the one winged fly moves on.
And as you keep on waiting,
the moment disappears.
The next time it comes around,
it won't be for years.

Don't make a mistake.
The whole world counts on you.
You don't have a choice.
You have to see it through.

The Darker it Gets

I remember your story.
It was so boring.
About the bird with the candy bar head
and how he would be better off dead.

The darker it gets, the more I forget
so tell me in the morning for your best chance
I can't think right when the sun goes down,
but when the sun comes, you won't be around.

I remember the story,
about the bug with a metric penny.
And he told me that it was much smaller.

The darker it gets, the more I forget
so tell me in the morning for your best chance
I can't think right when the sun goes down.

The darker it gets, the more I forget
so tell me in the morning for your best chance
When the sun comes up, you won't be around.

All the people in the room.
They were standing tall and talking about it all.

Patronizing

All your stories are patronizing.
Please don't tell them anymore.
Until you set me free,
please don't darken my door.

Protagonist/Antagonist

Cold times, old times
Everybody knows them.
In the summer, it's got to end.

You were the only...
You were the only protagonist.

You were the only...
You were the only one.
You were the only...
the only one who said
Everything's going.
It's all going to your head.

I was the only...
I was the only antagonist.
I like to take things.
I like to punch them with my fist.

Poison Arrow

He was shot with a poison arrow
while driving his Camaro.
The sheriff blames it all on the deputy
for saying "It was him, it was not me."
And in the hospital,
he's had a lot of time to think about it all.
And the nurse turns out the lights
to simulate the darkness of night.

The police and the doctors,
look into his eyes.
How can he keep on living without sunlight?

Now come the reporters
with their tape recorders.
NO FLASH ALLOWED
We muct keep it dark.
Or he could die of a broken heart.

I'll ask you one more question sir.
Is this just a test then?
I don't understand how you go on
facing this nothingness all day long.

The newspaper man
with his outstreched hand. It's a lie.
He doesn't care if you live or die.

Now he's on his death bed.
His face is turning red.
Hopefully he'll get there soon,
before the vultures have consumed.

Broken Boxes

Standing on broken boxes,
ready to break through to the floor.
And your reputation
is based on not much more.

And all you ever wanted
falls apart right now.
Your lies and innuendo
have all broken down.

I don't understand
the ways of a city man.
All the things he has to do.
Hurrying and Scurrying all day through.

And all you ever wanted
falls apart right now.

Turn Out the Lights

Why don't you turn off the lights?
My eyes are burning, it's much too bright.
Why don't you turn off the lights.
My eyes are burning, it's much too bright.

I went to bed so late last night.
Now it's 6am and I'm not ready for the day to come.

Why don't you turn off the lights?
My eyes are burning, it's much too bright.
Why don't you turn off the lights.
My eyes are burning, it's much too bright in here.

It's far too early for me to be
at my best, so let me be alone.

Why don't you turn off the lights?
My eyes are burning, it's much too bright.
Why don't you turn off the lights.
My eyes are burning, it's much too bright.

Here, Instead of TV

I wish you were here,
here with me.
I wish you were here
instead of watching TV.

Stinging

Barrels of fuel come crashing down
and I just happen to be standing around.

Stinging, ringing just like a bell.
The hurt grows deeper past every cell.

Fuel all over, I start to burn.
I ask myself, will I ever learn?

Stinging, ringing just like a bell.
The hurt grows deeper past every cell.

When will I ever be through with this?
I don't think ever, I don't think I can.

Stinging, ringing just like a bell.
The hurt grows deeper past every cell.

the Pessimist

The day is breaking.
It broke all over the floor.
And every time you try to get up,
it seems like a chore.

With all the people scrutinizing your each and every move
With each and every one of them,
they seem to look at you and say....

Blah

And you're starting to think,
what the hell's the point of this?
I've been sitting here for half my life.
And you...with your ideas
and your silly notions.
You think all of this will get real good, real soon.

Stop Fire

They took me to the waterfront,
though I cannot help.
And I can't stop fire.

I can't.
I can't stop fire.

They took me from the waterfront
so I can live again.

'Cause I stop fire.

Gilligan

Standing up to smell the breeze,
old man ocean bends his knees.
And those upon a pleasure cruise
pray that they can make it through.

But the captain and his one man crew
steers the ship straight to make it through
the horrible gale, the terrible storm.
Their destination is now unknown.

Stranded on a desert isle,
they make the best of this trial.
They try and try, but they can't leave.
Their best time is spent asleep.

Waiting for the day to come
when they are not alone
Living in their dreams is such an easy way
to get back home.

Perfect Piece of Fruit

Hey you, over there.
Do you have my perfect piece of fruit?

Did you steal my perfect piece of fruit?
I think that you are a rotten thief.
I just want my piece of, piece of fruit.
I want to hit you kick you in the teeth.

I just want my perfect piece of fruit.
I just want my perfect piece of fruit.
I just want my perfect piece of fruit.
Just give my piece of fruit.
I just want my piece, my piece of fruit.
Why don't you give my piece of fruit.
Fruit.
Fruit.
Fruit.

Story of a Late Night Wreck

I think that it's clear by now
that you can't get me to the hospital.
The car won't start and I'm bleeding.
Why won't you let me sleep?

It's so cold.
So very cold.
It's so freezing cold.
So very freezing cold.

When I woke, we were sliding
off the road into a ditch.
Save our strength, no more fighting.
I'm just far too tired for this.

It's so dark
So very dark.
It's so dark.
It's so pitch dark.

Open my eyes and there's a man
rapping on the window pane.
He has come here to save us.
We're free again.

It's so great.
So very great.
It's so great.
So very great.

Mad Man Moon

Tonight, we wait forever
and hope it gets here soon.
We hope you stay up there.
Oh the mad man moon.

Stay in the sky
forever and ever and ever
We hope you don't die
or come nigh.

For we would feel your gravity's pull
and we would surely perish
Stay up in the sky
and please don't you come nigh.

I have no solution.
I've had no chance to live.
I hope that you stay there.
And keep away....

Please stay up in the sky,
forever and ever and ever.
I don't know what to do,
if you were to die.
